The process is:
1. Get them back from Fernando Enterprises
2. Put them on sticks in a row and brush on army painter (process here)
3. Base them (I'm going to explain my rapid basing process in another post)
4. Magnetise them and store in "really useful" storage boxes.
So, the Russian infantry so far, 14 battalions:
They are all green coats with red facings. I have so many the same because that is the main uniform scheme, and also it was far easier to send off one painted sample for each type (Musketeer, pikeman, three command) and then get hundreds painted, than to paint/find sample photos for lots of different uniforms.
When they were based, I just found historical regiments with those colours and then labelled the units as 1/2nd battalions of those regiments, so there are 7 regiments each of 2 battalions so far.
As for the cavalry, all dragoons, in 7 regiments:
Five are in green coats with red facings, two in white coats with red facings. Again, all then labelled as historical regiments.
All flags are random, I make no claims the colours are accurate.
I will be adding a regiment (Busch's) of 2 grenadier battalions in blue coats, plus a horse grenadier regiment (name escapes me) also in blue coats. They are about to be based and I'll post photos soon.
Away With The Figure Painters...
To add to the sea of green, with a smattering of white and blue in the cavalry, I have a more varied set of figures being painted at the minute to represent:
3 battalions Semenovski Guard in red coats
2 battalions Ingermanlandski regt in yellow coats
Tverski dragoons in red coats
Smolenski dragoons in white/red
2 completely white coated dragoon regts yet to be assigned names
That little lot should colour things up nicely, and provide pretty much the full Russian army.
I still have enough infantry in green coats painted by Fernando in the box to do another 4 infantry battalions, but I'll leave them until everything else is finished before I bother with those. I'll probably base them and label them as the 4 battalions of the Preobrazhenski Guard.
O'd say that would put the wind up the Swedes, but I suspect they'll just shrug and charge anyway :)
ReplyDeleteOh they definitely will charge...they won't have any choice if they want to hang around!
